Senator Mark Kirk to Lead Congressional Delegation to Poland

Illinois Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and ranking member of the Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies, and Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL), U.S. Representative for Illinois's 5th congressional district, will visit Poland from January 10-14.  During their visit, Senator Kirk and Representative Quigley will meet current and former Polish government officials, including President Komorowski, Foreign Minister Sikorski, and former President Wałęsa.  They will also address the American Chamber of Commerce, view the future Missile Defense site in Redzikowo, and visit the Patriot Battery currently on rotation in Torun.   While in Krakow, Senator Kirk and Representative Quigley will hold meetings with local government and church officials and visit sites of cultural and historical significance.

The Congressmen plan on laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw Wednesday, January 11 at 11:00.  Press is invited to take photos of the wreath-laying ceremony.
