WARDEN MESSAGE - SCHEDULED DEMONSTRATION IN WARSAW
On March 16, 2007, up to 20,000 coal miners will protest in Warsaw. The protest will begin around 09:00 and the planned route is as follows:
Begin at Inspektowa (Stegny facility), Sobieskiego, Belwederska, Aleje Ujazdowskie – PM’s office – first stop, continue Aleje Ujazdowskie (passing in front of the U.S. Embassy) to Three Crosses Square. Ministry of Economy – second stop. To Wiejska – Sejm – third stop, and along Piekna to Torwar.
Traffic congestion is expected and violence is possible.
As always, we remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.
