Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco J. Sanchez was in Warsaw leading a U.S. trade mission on Civil Nuclear Energy Policy to Poland. The U.S. delegation included representatives of the U.S. Departments of Energy and State as well as senior executives from ten leading American suppliers of nuclear technology, equipment and services. During his visit, Under Secretary Sanchez highlighted how U.S. technologies, services and experience can help Poland achieve its plans to establish a nuclear energy generating program. U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Lee A. Feinstein, who accompanied Under Secretary Sanchez in his meetings, said, “Secretary Sanchez’s visit is a clear signal of the importance the United States is placing on the growing energy partnership between Washington and Warsaw.”
Under Secretary Sanchez has led the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration (ITA) since March 2010. ITA assists in the development of U.S. trade policy in the global economy; creates jobs and economic growth by promoting U.S. companies; strengthens American competitiveness across all industries; addresses market access and compliance issues; administers U.S. trade laws; and undertakes a range of trade promotion and trade advocacy efforts.
