Courier Service

In the interests of security and expediency, we have entered into a contract with DHL Express to provide courier services to deliver visas to applicants.  The service fee is 23 PLN (cash on delivery).  Passports are delivered within five working days.

Why is the use of DHL a requirement of the visa application process?

DHL provides secure delivery of documents to and from the Embassy in Warsaw and the U.S. Consulate in Krakow and also offers next workday delivery for most of Poland once DHL receives the passport.  Passports with visas are provided to DHL within 2-3 workdays.

How can I check on the progress of my delivery?

You may use the waybill number given to you at the end of your interview with the consul to check your delivery's status on the DHL website: www.dhl.com.pl or by calling the DHL info-line: 0-801 345 345.  Please do not contact the Embassy in Warsaw, the U.S. Consulate in Krakow, or the DHL Express offices.

Is the fee per passport?

The fee is charged per individual delivery. In cases of close family members who live together, up to 5 passports can be delivered in one envelope for one fee.  In all other cases passports are delivered individually.

Can DHL deliver my passport to an address different from my home address?

Yes, but only to addresses in Poland. Before your appointment, please fill in a DHL Express Address Form and bring it to the interview. You can provide any address where you want your passport to be delivered; however, do not forget to include your name as the passport holder. If close family members travel together, they can submit one DHL address form to include the names of all passport holders.

I am eligible to apply for a visa by mail. Am I required to use the courier service?

Yes.  Applicants who meet the criteria described in Visa applicants who do not have to come into the Embassy in Warsaw or the U.S. Consulate in Krakow in person may drop their documents at the Embassy in Warsaw's information window on Piekna Street or at the U.S. Consulate in Krakow, as appropriate, or use DHL courier service to deliver their documents.  Under either circumstance, passports will be returned via DHL.
