U.S. Embassy Supports Second Edition of Vital Voices Chapter Poland Mentoring Program for Women
27 February 2012
On February 27, Vital Voices Chapter Poland, together with the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, will launch the second edition of the mentoring program for professional women. Based on the success of the first program in 2010, the Embassy is proud to sponsor this second edition, which includes women who aspire to leadership positions both the public and private sectors.
Modeled on the Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership, the Vital Voices Chapter Poland mentoring program will match selected mentees with leading Polish businesswomen and government officials who will provide the mentees with job shadowing and consultations. The mentees will also participate in a series of training sessions organized by Vital Voices Chapter Poland, including a course on the Art of Strategic Leadership run by Warsaw Technical University’s School of Business and media training conducted by TVN.
U.S. Ambassador to Poland Lee A. Feinstein and his wife Elaine Monaghan will host the participants and supporters of Vital Voices Chapter Poland at their Warsaw residence today. Ambassador Feinstein said “initiating and supporting programs that create opportunities for women is a U.S. foreign policy priority. Secretary Clinton has said through mentoring we can ‘open that door to opportunity for someone who is ready to walk through it, but could not get under, around, or over it without your help.’”
Susan Whiting, Vice Chair of Nielsen, a global information and measurement company, will consult with mentors and conduct training for mentees of the program. Ms. Whiting has mentored businesswomen from different countries, including Poland, through the Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership.
Citi Handlowy, TRIP Group, PwC, IBM, and White & Case have also provided support to the second edition of the mentoring program.
Members of the media interested in attending the reception at the Ambassador’s residence should contact Sean Gilfillan at 22-504-2323.
